A HARLOW teenager has been charged with being in possession of a large knife in Newhall.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “We were called at around 4.40pm on 29 January to reports of someone seen with a large knife in Great Ley Road, Harlow.

Officers attended and arrested a man.

“Daniel Friend, 18, River Way, Harlow, has been charged with possession of a knife or sharp pointed article in a public place.

He is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on 14 March.

ESSEX Police has revealed why the police helicopter was over Church Langley area of Harlow on Sunday afternoon.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “We received reports around 5pm of youths on motorbikes including one with a reported weapon in and around the Church Langley and Newhall area of Harlow.

“Officers attended with support from the National Police Air Service and commenced a search of the local area.

“During the incident we executed a search warrant at a nearby address whereby one person was arrested for possession of drugs. 

“During the search we recovered some stolen items which are subject to further investigation”.
