ON FRIDAY morning at 11am Harlow Council joined the rest of the country in a minute’s silence to pay tribute to the people of Ukraine, who continue to fight for their freedom a year on from Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Councillors, council staff and members of the public were joined by Vice-Chair, Councillor Sue Livings, who gave a short speech before observing the one-minute silence.

A video of the ceremony can be viewed here

The council continues to fly the Ukrainian flag outside the Civic Centre to show its support for the country, and the building is being lit up in the colours of the Ukrainian flag tonight.
