Football / Thu 2nd Mar 2023 at 09:03am

ON Sunday they hosted Southminster Ladies in the League Cup quarter-final. Frontiers got off to a flyer with a ball over the top from Kelly Holsworth for Tayla Handscomb to run on to and get wiped out by the on rushing keeper but the resulting penalty was missed.

This seemed to wake the visitors up and so Frontiers were on the front foot and took the lead after 27 minutes from a corner where a Southminster player nodded home an unopposed header.

Half Time 0-1

Frontiers would get back on level terms within two minutes of the restart. Tayla Handscomb broke down the right and whipped a ball in for Ella Fobbester to finish from close range.

It wasn’t long until Frontiers took the lead, again another good ball into the box this time by Kelly Holsworth to find Ella Fobbester for her to slot the ball past the keeper for her second  to make it 2-1.

With 15 minutes to go the ref awarded Southminster a penalty which would be converted to make it 2-2.

With the final whistle the game would head into extra time and it would be Southminster who would regain the lead with a free kick from 40 yards. Southminster would have the lead for long as Frontiers would equalise with a corner from Tayla Handscomb which would find Jackie Day at the back post to head home.

Full time 3-3.
With the game all square after 120 minutes it would be Southminster who would win 7-6 on penalties.
