Football / Fri 10th Mar 2023 at 08:20am

LAST Sunday they were back into league action against Beacon Hill after a couple of weeks of cup game.

It was a scratchy start but Frontiers looking the most likely to open the scoring with a couple of chances including Shelley Anglin hitting the bar but it was the visitors who would take the lead with a break away. Their striker would find a yard of space and hit a shot from 20 yards in to the roof of the net 0-1.

Wouldn’t take long for Frontiers to get back on leave terms when Hettie Jones-Chapman would find herself on the edge of the box. she lay the ball back for Tayla Handscomb to fire home from 25 yards 1-1.

Just before half time Frontiers would find themselves in front when a shot on target was parred by the keeper and Hettie Jones-chapman would be the quickest to react to side foot the ball into the net to make it 2-1.

Second half continued in the same vein as the first with most of the football being played in the Beacon Hill half with more chances coming and going with Chloe Hudson coming closest hitting the post from a a header and Frontiers keeper Nicola Davey being called upon putting a shot round the post on the rear Beacon Hill attack.

It would be Frontiers who would get the next goal to make it 3-1 with some good wide play from Katie Williams who would play the ball into Tayla Handscome who would then pass it on to debutant Donna Watts to place the ball past the keepers.

Still pressing for more goals Tayla Handscomb would get her second and Frontiers fourth of the day calmly slotting the ball past the visitors keeper 4-1.

Minutes later Handscomb would get her hat trick with a ball over the top from Nic Davey for Tayla to run onto and give the keeper no chance with her shot finding to top corner of the net 5-1.

Beacon Hill would get a consolation goal in the last minute with a break down their right they would find the winger with a bit of time to run into the Frontiers box and finish from a tight angle.

Final score Frontiers 5 Beacon Hill 2.

Great to get back to winning ways after a couple of disappointing cup results in recent weeks but it goes to show the mentality of this group of players to dust themselves off and go again

Today player of the match was Tayla Handscomb

Next week they face current league leaders Stanway Pegasus at home
