Application for House of Multiple Occupation in The Hides

General / Sat 18th Mar 2023 at 03:30pm

AN APPLICATION has been made to turn a Harlow home into a House of Multiple Occupation.

The application is in relation to Number 1 The Hides.

The application states:

In order to meet projected demand for affordable accommodation the plan aims to support the development of houses of multiple occupation (HMOs).

One, The Hides, CM20 3QL offers secure and safe accommodation with 3 double en-suite rooms with internet access and utility bills paid and aims to provide quality shared living room and kitchen facilities, including a large rear garden. In accordance with requirements the accommodation provides space for up to three cars and has existing arrangements for waste disposal.

The aim is to offer accommodation to local tenants, many of whom have been recently recruited to support local infrastructure such as employees of the local Princess Alexandra Hospital and of the industries and corporations supporting development. Additionally, we are currently in negotiation with Local Authority Children’s Services, (pending immediately forthcoming legislation and guidance requiring the registration and regulation of supported accommodation for Care Leavers) with a view to providing effective and well-managed supported accommodation for Care Leavers.

I suppose it’s better there than elsewhere, as it’s close to the town centre for shopping etc..

The Town is short on housing and since the council put a limit on HMO licences thete has been a spike in Rent as the demand is high and the supply is low. I think the council need to look Into this issue a bit deeper.
