Business / Tue 4th Apr 2023 at 11:10am

THOUSANDS of Virgin Media O2 users in the UK have reported that they are unable to access the internet.

Downdetector, which tracks websites, showed more than 26,000 people had reported their home broadband was not functioning.

The problem comes as Virgin contacts customers to advise them of price increases – averaging at a 13.8% higher bill.

The firm said it is “working to identify and fix” the outage.

The Virgin Media network can be brought down by external cable cuts or software failures. The amount of customers affected in this case sounds like a set-top box code download problem. These code updates are sent to apply new or upgraded features. On occasions they are applied to identify fraudulent cloned boxes as part of revenue protection. However, 26,000 affected customers would not be down to Arthur Daley sales.

Seems to have gone down again this afternoon, won’t be set top boxes as just the Internet but hopefully all sorted now. Not ideal just as they increase the prices for customers
