This road has become a racetrack and I'm surprised not more accidents have happened. I hope the guy is OK but it's both cars and bikes that use this road as rev rebels. Really hope we get speed cameras soon.

Agreed! It’s like living on a speedway track lately. I’m sure the cars are as bad too, just don’t hear their engines as much. This is anti social behaviour and should be addressed.

Yesterday I thought there was a trumpet fanfare for the coronation- but it was a sequence of near misses on the Fatima roundabout with horns. The embankments round that area are often littered with bits of bodywork, hub-caps etc. From a pedestrian point of view, if you come off a roundabout you are turning left and you should indicate accordingly- those trying to cross need the indicators too. Used to regularly cross the Uxbridge Road, Archway, Euston- no collisions, no pedestrian incidents; Harlow, at least one near miss a week!

H&S Executive advise that "near misses" should be taken very seriously in industry and the workplace, as if the accident happened, but County Highways don't apply the same principles to roads, for example, to get a speed camera (often not the most appropriate but cheapest option) installed it seems several people must have died before any preventative measures are introduced. Most often the problem is bad road design like installing or modifying roundabouts that have been proven to increase rates of accidents eg Burnt Mill near Harlow Station or retaining roads with 3 lanes like the road from hamberger roundabout to the Gates roundabout here in Harlow.
