Fire at property in Collins Meadow now being investigated as arson attack

A FIRE at a house in Collins Meadow is being treated as an arson attack.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “We are investigating a fire in Harlow which we’re treating as arson.

“It was reported a food bin had been set alight at an address in Collins Meadow between 4.40am and 4.55am on Thursday 11 May.

The door to the property was damaged.

ESSEX Firefighters were called to a fire at a house in Harlow early this morning (Thursday 11 May).

The residents at the Collins Meadow property were woken up by their working smoke alarm and called 999 immediately.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and ventilated the property.

Before firefighters left, they fitted new smoke alarms in the property, as the one which actuated was very close to the fire and may have suffered some damage.
