Athletics: Fantastic Jason Fox produces great performance at Stort 5

Athletics / Wed 24th May 2023 at 07:18am

WHEN we get the weekly running reports from Harlow Running and Tri Club, we try and look out for a variety of achievements.

We have noticed that the times for Jason Fox have kept improving over a range of distances. The 51-year-old recently produced a 21 min parkrun and has also made his mark in 10ks and half marathons.

Not bad for a former footballer who only took up the sport in 2016 when knee injuries took their toll.

Well done to Jason on his first male position (V50) at the Stort 5, finishing in 5th place out of 205 finishers and 1st Male Vet 50 in 31.53.

HARLOW Running and Tri Club contested the first race of the Scott’s Travel Midweek Road Race League, Division 2, over an undulating 10k course at  Stevenage last week. After being promoted from Division 3 last year the club expected to be up against some strong opposition. And so it proved, Harlow finished 6th out of 6 teams in the Women’s and Men’s races and 6th overall.

In the Women’s race Catherine Ridge finished in 9th place out of 130 finishers in a superb 45min 02sec, Vicky Steadman was 19th in 46.35 and Kerry Mavris 24th in 48.19.

In the Men’s race Rob Lowe finished in 12th place out of 186 finishers and 1st Vet 50 in an excellent 34.46, Martin Westley was 20th in 36.48 and Kirk Crudgington 39th in 38.45.
