Athletics: Veteran Rob Lowe impresses at Hatfield Broad Oak 10K

HARLOW Running and Tri Club had 78 runners competing at the Hatfield Broad Oak 10k race on Bank Holiday Monday morning. This included one category 1st place, several personal best performances for the distance and many debuts at the distance. 

Rob Lowe led the way in 10th place out of 1056 finishers and 1st Vet 50 in a fantastic 35min 55sec. He was followed home by Kevin Smith in 61st place in 40.16, Ryan Smith 69th in 40.40 and Andy Terrell 79th in 40.57.

There were PB runs from Matt Spires 42.23, Catherine Ridge 42.43, Chris Mella 43.13, Chris Arnell 45.11, Kerry Mavris 46.57, Linda Helm-Manley 48.19, Kelly Spires 51.25, Donna Milton 52.31, Emma Luck 53.00, Jane Evans   53.18, Liz Roberts 55.17, Alex Soady 1.00.24, Claire Clark 1.01.57, Julie Ireland 1.03.46 and Heidi Fox 1.05.31.

Meanwhile, on Saturday at the Ride London event there were many members who rode the 100 mile race and one the 60 mile race, this included some who ran at HBO the following day.

In the 100 mile race Pas Blackwell finished in 4hrs 35min 26sec, Vicky Steadman 5.11.30, Keith Streeter 5.30.56, Lucy Barnes 5.33.11, James Dowsett 6.12.34, Gail Nicholls 6.21.22, Michelle Sheridan 6.45.24, Paige Bircham 6.51.56, Terri Wiley 6.51.57, Ben Usher 6.51.57, Claire Carter 6.58.49 and Jane Evans 7.15.36.

In the 60 mile race Jamie Olsen Ferreira completed the course in 4.25.27.

At the One on the River Standard Triathlon at Marlow (1500m swim, 40k cycle, 10k run) Iain Bulloch finished in 8th place out of 38 finishers in 2.34.00. This was not only his debut at the distance but a new Male Vet 45 Club Record. Another Club Record was set by Louise Kedge, finishing in 21st place and 2nd Female in 2.53.42, a Female Vet 35 Club Record. 

At the Darley Moor Sprint Duathlon (4.8k run, 18.3k bike, 2.4k run) Daz Red finished in 116th place out of 1051 finishers in a PB time of 1.01.56,  

Laura Prime completed 9 laps of the SunTime, RunTime race course, at Brandon, for a total distance of 29.6 miles in 5.49.26.

There were parkrun PBs at the Gunpowder parkrun at Waltham Abbey from James Dowsett finishing in 9th place out of 167 finishers in 19.52, Alan Knightley 18th in 21.04 and Bradley Power 25th in 21.58.

At Harwich parkrun Sue Reilly finished in 92nd place out of 130 finishers in a PB time of 30.40.
