General / Sun 4th Jun 2023 at 09:07am

SECTIONS of the A414 Edinburgh Way in Harlow have been identified for carriageway surfacing improvements. This will take place between the Howard Way Roundabout and Central Road/Templefields Roundabout.

As a traffic sensitive location, the work will be carried out overnight with restrictions removed during the daytime so that normal traffic flows can resume.

How about sorting out the 414 approach to the m11 roundabout first...been an absolute mess for months.

Yes, Barry, Essex County Council continually let the area down. It's more than just potholes it's damaged road signs too. There appear to be NO TIME FRAMES to complete jobs - "as per our policy". More than eighteen months ago (in 2021) a directional road sign was demolished in Church Langley Way at the Tesco turn off. The post remains on the ground in June 2023. There are numerious similar examples throughout Harlow that go back mainly over six months. Nearly three quarters of Council Tax goes to ECC. yet they have not yet shown any interest in improving the wording of future HIGHWAY CONTRACTS to include penalties for such unreasonable delays in completing jobs. Why? In April 2022 I emailed our four Harlow County Councillors with a "Plea for action", but that had no effect. These instances (coupled with other Highway issues) indicate there may be something drastically wrong within the hierarchy of ECC. Will our County Councillors ever take firm action and not avoid the issue as in past years?

The road surface is the least of our problems at that roundabout. It's totally not fit for purpose given the number of destinations and onward routes it serves.

Elizabeth way has been resufaced in a section between well lane and roydon road roundabout however it's scheduled to be dug up again to lay the cables for the solar farm at roydon, surely contractors could talk to eachother or is that too simplistic

"The planed area will have the manholes and gullies adjusted and replaced if required." I hope that includes the sunken manhole on the eastbound carriageway that has been left in a dangerous condition for years! I wonder how many tyres it has destroyed since the previous contractor failed to do their work properly?

To be honest they resurfaced Tillwicks Road after Easter but only at begin of the road and the traffic lights intersection, the rest only patch up a few potholes left for the next few times. One evening I saw the two workers bought a bottle of Jack Daniels and they are sharing around the vans. In my opinion, the contractor is very bad and wastes time closing the roads when they are drunks. 😡😡😡

Essex County Council’s repairs to the roads in Harlow are awful. On ANY given stretch of potholes half are filled in badly and the remaining left untouched. An absolute disgrace

It would be good if they could trim the bushes on the Howard Way roundabout near McDonald's and Tim Horton's. It's overgrown and reduces visibility as one drives round it.

Tumbler and great brays is awful, the ducks love it when it rains. My car doesn’t though, a few new tyres later.
