A NUMBER of Mark Hall Academy teachers were acknowledged on National Thank a Teacher Day.
The special event was held as part of the Pearson National Teaching Awards.
Pearson representative,Jon Wolton attended the event to make a special presentation to Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator (SENCO), Victoria Butler.
Ms Butler made a very touching speech (11 min mark) where she thanked her colleagues for their support at the school.
A number of other staff members received awards as well.
Unsung Hero: Lynn Birkett
Unsung Hero: Theresa Parker
Unsung Hero: Beth Reed
It may be a mark of the dedication of teachers at Mark Hall that one of the teachers (Theresa Parker) who had received an award was a little bit late as she was supervising the Homework Club.
At the beginning of the film, new headteacher, Matt Carter made a short speech to the assembled staff, thanking them for all their efforts.
On behalf of the LGB, I am absolutely delighted to see that Vic’, ‘Liv’, Teresa, Bev’ & Lyn were recognised for their outstanding contributions to the cause of children’s education. To be nominated by a colleague is an achievement, to be acknowledged by an awarding body is a level above and to receive the tonne of thanks from parents and pupils on T-a-T Day is a pure delight. Seeing their work close-up, they are ‘in full voice’ singing heroes, as their work is greatly appreciated by myself and fellow governors. Wonderful news all round.
