Harlow and Gilston Garden Town invite you to community celebration day

Business / Fri 7th Jul 2023 at 08:24am

RESIDENTS can find out more about Harlow & Gilston Garden Town (HGGT), the town centre development and take part in fun activities at a Community Celebration Day in the Harvey Centre on Saturday 15 July.

Running from 10am – 4pm on the ground floor, the event celebrates a year since HGGT launched the Your Quality of Life project which spanned 12 weeks last summer and asked residents to comment on what they like and dislike about the local area.

Funded by the Dept for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, Your Quality of Life featured 49 in-person events across Harlow and the local area plus online engagement.

The Community Celebration Day will feature a smoothie-making cycling arcade game, a family craft activity and face painting, jumbo blocks soft play plus an opportunity to meet the HGGT Team and Harlow Council and leave comments on what you’d like to see as part of the Garden Town development, Town Centre regeneration and creating communities.

And to celebrate Harlow Council’s plans for a new Arts & Cultural Quarter in Playhouse Square, Hip Hop Pop will stage a dancing performance in the Harvey Centre at 2.30pm.

HGGT Director Naisha Polaine said: “The Your Quality of Life project generated 1000 comments from Harlow & Gilston Garden Town residents and we’re using that feedback to not only shape future plans for the local area but deliver future opportunities for people to have their say and engage with us on a regular basis.

“The Your Quality of Life feedback told us that people are passionate about their neighbourhood, green space and good public transport which is brilliant to hear as we also believe these are all integral to making Harlow & Gilston Garden Town a great place to live, work and play.

“The Community Celebration Day is a great opportunity for people to find out more about both the Garden Town and town centre developments and the benefits that existing residents, and those that will be  here in the future, can look forward to.”

1000 comments, that you probably won't take any notice of.. we had 6,000 signatures against the destruction of the river stort, and building on its Marsh lands, another 1,000 from the Aliance party. From people of this town... As for the town centre, people have told you there comments... but probably we do exactly what you like...

It would be interesting to know how many people living in Harlow responded to the consultation exercises carried out/

I wonder how nearby Naisha Polaine lives? I do laugh when i read things to do with HGGT,these people make it all sound so lovely and that we will all benefit blah blah blah!!! Caring about grern spaces etc lol, you are chopping everything down and putting concrete everywhere and taking our privacy away and you are overbuilding, overpopulating harlow and surrounding areas and yet with all this comes many more vehicles.

Quality of life. 😂 😂 When all you are doing is destroying the very thing that makes us better, our natural green spaces. Ripping tress up in abundance, destroying the ecco systems of the river stort, and its wild life... Please don't make me laugh...

I'll remind, HGGT, 6,000 signatures against the destruction of the river stort valley, 1,000 from the Aliance party. Not to mention surrounding villages..And just stop north... You don't want to hear us.. ... so play your silly games somewhere else.
