Update: Two arrested in Rundells following burglary and police chase across Harlow

UPDATE

POLICE attended an incident of attempt burglary on Lindsey St, Epping at 2:20pm on Saturday, 5 August.

A grey Mini Cooper with a white roof was used in this burglary. 

An occupied vehicle matching that description was then sighted acted suspiciously at 2:36pm in Jerounds, Harlow.

There was then a further sighting of the vehicle at Morningtons, Harlow at around 3:05pm. ​

The vehicle was located by Police around 3:35pm during which it made off at speed along Paringdon Road and the Rundells, Harlow.

During the pursuit, the car appeared to attempt to dispose of a safe, which was left at the scene close to Rundells. This has been recovered for examination as part of ongoing enquiries.

The vehicle was recovered along with stolen property of Riddings Lane. 

An 18-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion burglary and possession of a bladed article.

A further report of burglary which took place on Rye Hill Road was also received which we believe is also connected. 

Police statement: “Enquiries are ongoing within our Criminal Investigation Department and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything or have any dashcam or CCTV footage to contact us.

We are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have dashcam footage from Paringdon Road/Rundells between 3:30 and 3:45pm yesterday or CCTV which may assist in identifying the persons involved.

ESSEX Police are appealing for the public’s help following an incident in Harlow this afternoon (Saturday).

Officers were alerted to an attempted burglary at a property in Jerounds at around 2:30pm on Saturday, 5 August.

During searches to locate those involved , officers were involved in a pursuit with a grey Mini Cooper.

The pursuit went through Paringdon Road onto Rundells where the suspect vehicle was involved in a minor collision.

Those in the suspect car decamped. Two were arrested at the scene and two left the scene.

Police have confirmed that a safe was involved in the burglary.

Enquiries are ongoing within our Criminal Investigation Department and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything or have any dashcam or CCTV footage to contact us.

A bladed weapon???? What happened to the mandatory 10yr sentence that was enrolled a few yrs ago just for carrying???
