I walked past this incident. Machettes from one of the shop owners getting a bit stabby with customers so the injured person was shouting. I'll avoid that shop in future.

That newsagents if its the shop that was involved has always been shady, the owner has been done for selling illegal tobacco in the past, usual foreign dodgy dealings, never shop in there out of principle, English money for English businesses.

EX HARLOW RESIDENT,it was not a disgrace of a town when it was built and it was a lovely town for many many years, but in the last few it has become a disgrace due to many outsiders and from far and wide.

It’s funny how when this happens in Harlow, certain people and ‘ex residents’ seem to mouth off that it’s ‘a disgrace of a town’ … I’m born and bred in London… living in Harlow 15 years now… Harlow‘s not that bad… Parts of London are a lot worse and there’s ‘dives’ to every area north and south of UK. There’s even awful parts to Stevenage, Luton, Basildon, etc etc… but there’s also nice parts too… Makes me laugh when alot of people who have left Harlow seem to think they’ve gone ‘upmarket’ and that their Sh!t don’t stink no more….

I’ll do that Billy

Goodness me!. More lazy cheap shots at our town. Harlow is an alright place to live, not perfect I know but not the worst either. There is nowhere that is immune from crime or ‘bad stuff’, it can happen anywhere at anytime.

Probably one of few low life/drunks that sit all day in market square! That handy off licence for them in the cordon! Police need to remove these losers! Moved from Chelmsford to Harlow to be closer to work and is much better than 18yrs ago. I go back to Chelmsford to visit family regularly and since city status that has far more issues than Harlow,

Every town and village in the Country is the same. The people who think it is just Harlow need to get out more.

I come here for the comments. But I stay for the arguments. Brilliant. Typical Harlow people arguing about silly little things. Half cannot spell and the other half cannot read. It's priceless.

It amazes that people think theres nothing wrong with Harlow Town centre. There are more crack dealer's than shoppers in market Square. The high profile patrols that the cheif inspector raves about are often carried out by PSO's who are not a deterrent and are often ridiculed by the people they are supposed to be keeping in check. I for one will not venture into town after dark. The police only put effort into high profile PR stunts that make them look like they are winning the war on crime . Being a burgler now is the safest profession, no chance of getting caught and if you are challenged by the victim they are the ones who get arrested.Through experience you don't realise how bad the police are until you need them. Fair play to the shop owner for trying to protect his business. He deserves a medal.
