A SPECIALIST team which recovers stolen vehicles have recovered three cars in the west of the county.

The vehicles, which had been stolen from the Thames Valley and Gloucestershire areas, were found at a facility at a storage yard.

Officers from our Stolen Vehicle Intelligence Unit recovered a Bentley Continental, a Mercedes X350, and an Audi R8, all of which they believe would have been exported out of the county if they had not been found.

The owner of one of the cars has been located and they are working to identify the owners of the others.

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Blakesley said: “We know that if you have your car stolen it has a massive impact on your whole life.

“That’s why finding stolen cars, returning them, and bringing those responsible for taking them is a priority for us.

“Whether it’s top of the range and high value, or you’ve had it for a decade – it matters to you, so it matters to us.

I’m sorry! I totally disagree with this statement “Whether it’s top of the range and high value, or you’ve had it for a decade – it matters to you, so it matters to us”. I had my car stolen, less than 10yrs old, police just told us we’d probably never see it again, gave us a crime number and told us to ring our insurance company. That really showed they care….not!!!

The public can check if a vehicle is Taxed, has a MOT or Insurance using known websites for free, but you still cannot check if a vehicle has been stolen. This is one reason why so many vehicles are never recovered and the public unknown to them end up buying a stolen vehicle. If my vehicle was stolen I would like to known that anyone can check a free website and hopefully inform the Stolen Vehicle Intelligence Unit. So at least your stolen/recovered vehicles monthly total would show a 100% increase.
