Dartford Bridge protest: 125,000 sign anti-deportation petition

Crime / Wed 13th Sep 2023 at 06:45am

THE partner of a climate activist jailed for climbing the Dartford Crossing bridge has started a petition to try to prevent him being deported reports the BBC.

German national Marcus Decker was jailed for two years and seven monthsfor the Just Stop Oil action last October.

Holly Cullen-Davies said she only found out about the bridge protest on TV.

The Home Office said foreign nationals who commit crimes “face the full force of the law, including deportation”.

Ms Cullen Davies, 39, who lives in Haringey in north London, has spoken about her partner’s actions and said she hoped to prevent his possible deportation back to Germany.

I'm sure if there was a petition to deport, it would be signed by millions of people. What this idiot done, is unacceptable.

If you can’t do the time, do not do the crime

Send him back to Germany and let him protest there in a land that still uses coal fired power plants 63 to be exact , and he can bring his own Autobahns to a stand still and upset his own countrymen trying to get to work , good riddance to him .

I agree with all these comments, well said.He was not forced to climb the Dartford Bridge,he knew exactly what he was doing and he knew that it would cause some level of disruption. When he gets deported and he should,i wonder if he will continue his protest in his own country?

Not sure who the 125,000 people were that signed it. The cost and inconvenience they caused must be massive so I have no issue with this person and any others being deported. Agree that if a petition to deport was signed, it would have a lot more signatures on it.

The U.K. emits less than 1% of the worlds emissions. Perhaps his protests should take place in countries that emit more? Off you go sunshine.
