A POPULAR BBC show filming in Harlow next month is appealing for help from traders.
DIY SOS is coming to do a “Big Build” in Harlow in October to transform a derelict building in Latton Bush into a space offering support to people experiencing social isolation, loneliness and mental health struggles.
Butterfly Effect Well-Being is run by former pharmacy technician Angela Hannibal, who set it up after losing her mum to suicide.
Her mum had struggled for years with poor mental health, and after she died Angie quit her career to try to help people like her. She runs the group with fellow director Dawn who also lost her brother to suicide.
With the help of volunteer tradesmen and donations from merchants in the area, DIY SOS: The Big Build will turn the unloved space into a welcoming hub where everyone in the community can go for help, support and company when they most need it.
Nick Knowles and his team help from tradespeople and suppliers by donating skills and materials.
Volunteers will be offered hot meals and “the experience of a lifetime”.
The trades day is on October 3, which volunteers will need to attend, so anyone interested should email [email protected] as soon as possible with their trade, phone number and availability. The trade and company name should be included in the subject line.
The build dates will be from October 25 to October 31.
Maybe he could have a look at SFG School and effect repairs?
Like to volunteer to help in any way
Would like to volunteer in anyway
Would like to help with any painting and decorating
Fantastic. Love the programme and amazed at how many highly skilled tradespeople volunteer their time for worthy causes.
This was in Essex Live when they mentioned it. "To join the build, applicants must attend the BBC's Trades Day and must email [email protected] as soon as possible with your trade, phone number and availability."
