IT was yet another great feat of fund raising for local funeral directors, Daniel Robinson & Sons, when they held their Annual Charity Golf Day on Wednesday, 13th September. They broke their own record for this event, increasing last year’s total by more than £8k, raising over £56,000.

All the funds raised are being used to change young lives for the better, covering the cost of specialist private physiotherapy and equipment and will help eight children who were born with Cerebral Palsy to increase their mobility in their lives today and in the future.

This year, it has been announced that £10,000 of funding will be made available to help Harlow Wheelchair Racing Squad, which is run by Paralympian Richard Chiassaro. It is the second largest training squad of its type in England but receives very little funding.

Not only does it provide inspiration for people with disabilities, but also offers children as young as three, the opportunity to experience sport and benefit from the fitness and confidence building that this brings.  One of the above beneficiaries, Lyncoln, is currently training there and he aspires to attend a future Paralympics himself.  Richard said ‘“The money that Daniel Robinsons and Sons have raised is outstanding and I will use it to fix up some of the chairs, and also buy some new chairs. I wouldn’t be able to run the group without support of people like them over the years and we can’t thank them enough “.

Businesses who trade in or are based in the Harlow area, and who contributed to sponsorship included Diamond Office Furniture, Anchor Press, Westerleigh Group, and there a great number of other businesses and individuals from all over the local area who contributed either through donations, sponsorship or playing on the day.

Gary Neill, Managing Director of Daniel Robinson & Sons is delighted with the success of the event, Gary said: “`this is a huge day on our community events calendar, we work hard to make it special for everyone who supports the day and, most importantly, we work hard because we know that every penny raised will go towards helping these very special, and determined young children and teens, who will benefit from the help that it provides.

“When we met Richard at Harlow Wheelchair Racing we were so impressed with this dedication and motivation, he works hard to give both children and adults opportunity in sport which is priceless.

“Thank you to all those people and businesses who donated or took part in our event, we greatly appreciate your help’.

A huge thank you to all involved in raising the money for these charities - thank you for your time, effort and generosity. I’m sure all the charities are very grateful. On a personal note my son attends Harlow Wheelchair racing with Richard, all involved are brilliant, the club helps build my sons motivation, aspiration and sense of belonging and Richard is a fantastic coach and we are pleased that his appreciation, support and effort can be seen by others as well as the children and young adults that he mentors.

Amazing effort, and for such deserving children. I donate to their golf day each year, and to see the progress the children have made is fabulous. The company put regular updates on their website, and you can see the progress and determination they all have. Its well worth a look. Keep up the great work. Thank you Daniel Robinson's.
