Athletics: Veteran Rob Lowe continues to impress

HARLOW Running and Tri Club members competed at the Tiptree 10 which also doubled as the Essex 10 Mile Championships. Linda Helm-Manley was the star performer on the day by finishing in 185th place out of 457 finishers and 2nd Female Vet 55, to win the Essex Championship Silver medal in her age category, in 1hr 23min 57sec. Martin Westley was first home for HRTC in 30th place in 1.02.42. He was followed by Martyn Coulter in 53rd place in 1.06.15, Colin Moody 202nd in 1.26.23, Tracy Stratford 236th in 1.30.26, Pasquale Pellecchia 317th in 1.38.53, Susan Maloney 378th in 1.50.14 and Janet Webster 410th in 1.58.12.
Meanwhile at the Eton Dorney Half Marathon Rob Lowe finished in 5th place out of 275 finishers and 1st Vet 50 in an excellent 1.17.24.
The Royal Parks Half Marathon takes in some of the capital’s world-famous landmarks and four of London’s eight Royal Parks – Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens. HRTC had four runners among the nearly 16,000 finishers. Matt Spires finished in 1.37.42, Chris Mella in 1.41.29, Vicky Steadman in 1.51.01, Kelly Spires in 2.03.20 and Emma Luck in 2.08.14 in her debut at the distance.
At the Bournemouth Running Festival Half Marathon Natalie Thornton finished in a time of 2.05.29.
At the same event in the 10k race Richard Thornton finished in 43.47
At the Run the River 10k at Edmonton Julie Ireland finished in 180th place out 257 finishers in 1.04.06.
There were 5k PBs at Harlow parkrun from James Catton in 27th place out of 257 finishers in 22.26, Sam Spurgeon 41st in 23.52, Ellie Wiseman 68th in 26.05, Rosie Lozeau 72nd in 26.27, Luke Remfrey 117th in 29.10 and Bobbie Muschamp 161st in 31.42.
