Athletics: Kerry battles through wind, rain and mud to conquer Stort 30

HARLOW Running and Tri Club member Kerry Mavris completed the Stort 30, a 30 mile race along the River Stort towpath from Bishop’s Stortford to Rye House and back, on Sunday morning. In atrocious weather Kerry completed the race in 23rd place out of 64 finishers and 4th Female in a fantastic 5hrs 15min 25sec.  

Meanwhile, at the 2nd round of the Essex Cross Country League over a 5 mile course at Basildon, in the women’s race, Ella Wager finished in 92nd place out of 158 finishers in 40.57 and Emma Luck was 99th in 41.59. 

In the Men’s race Martin Westley was 85th out of 281 finishers in an excellent 36.17, Colin Baker 107th in 37.54 and Gary Mead 253rd in 50.52.

At the Pumpkin Plod, organised by Zig Zag Running, Laura Prime completed 5 5.3 mile laps for a total distance of 16.4 miles in 2hrs 42min 06sec.
At the same venue in the 10k race Deborah Pomphret finished in 11th place out of 36 finishers in 1.05.28 and Alan Godbold was 23rd in 1.16.08.

There was a 5k PB run from Harriet Martin at the Thames Path parkrun, finishing in 219th place out of 248 finishers in 35.56.
