SFG College woes continue as school cut again due to “power issues”

Education: Secondary / Mon 20th Nov 2023 at 08:35am

PARENTS OF children at SFG College woke up to be told that the school is once again shut.

They received the following information in an email at just before 7 am this morning (Monday)

“Unfortunately, I must inform you that due to an unforeseen power issue at the SFG temporary site, we are unable to open the school today. In light of this situation, we have decided to transition to online lessons for Years 8-11, adhering to the students’ normal timetable.

Our team is working diligently to address the power issue, and we will keep you updated on any developments. Rest assured, we are committed to minimising disruption to your child’s education.

We will be in touch later today to provide information about the status of school operations for tomorrow. Your understanding and cooperation during this time are greatly appreciated.

Should you have any immediate concerns or queries, please contact us.

Kind Regards
SFG Team

Classic cluster **** and people think we need more government, more civil servant and public sector employees. I am sure the usual crowd will be along soon to say if only we paid more taxes or the hated tories stopped doing X and Y it would all be fine. The reality is government, political parties and the public sector are largely incompetent as they focus on anything but ability. We have a competency crisis

What is happening to the main school? Can it be 'repaired' or does it need to be demolished and rebuilt? Find an empty building temporarily and settle these poor pupils again. I understand adjustments might need to be made to accommodate so many pupils and staff but office blocks would surely work? What type of building is the standing empty Smithkline site as an example. Sort it out.

This is so frustrating for school staff, parents and pupils who are all let down by a seemingly incompetent Dept of Education. An independent enquiry is a priority task to ensure those responsible are made to answer everybody’s concerns, and stop the Government cover up, because as yet, they won’t reveal what is actually wrong with original building.

Jean - a Department for Education report shows the modular build wasn’t even bolted together. And that’s just the information they will release.

@emma. Can send me a link to the report where it says they are not bolted together. I had heard this, but didn't realise it had been officially reported. If this is the case it seems a no brainer to build a steel frame around the existing building and bolt the structure to this new frame.

Still at least the parents and children are getting a good education in politics a public sector service! Every cloud has a brown lining. I bet no one loses their job over this either!
