Football: Frontiers work hard for a well-earned single point

Football / Fri 24th Nov 2023 at 09:21am

SUNDAY saw Frontiers Ladies Host Romford. Both teams had a couple of half chances in the opening exchanges but Frontiers eventually took the lead when Bee Taspinar and Katie Williams played a 1-2 through the midfield and Bee’s shot was calmly lifted over the keeper into the back of the net.

Half time 1-0

Second half started and Frontiers were on the front foot straight away and won a penalty in the first five minutes of the half but Tayla Handscombs spot kick was saved.

Within a couple of minutes Romford found an equaliser from a quick free kick that found their striker whose effort flew past keeper Jill Bartholomew giving her no chance.

Now pushing for the win, Frontiers managed to create a couple of opportunities but just wasn’t to be and the game ended all square.

After the game manager Ronnie Yates said” Obviously it’s not the result we wanted and I felt we deserved all three points but it was just one of those days on another day things go our way and we would of had six but a point is still a positive and still a step in the right direction.

“We know where we want to get to and seeing the frustration in some of their faces for me is a good thing as it shows how passionate they are.

Player of the match was Charley Sheridan.
