NET migration into the UK was a record 745,000 last year, figures show – far higher than originally thought reports the BBC.
Office for National Statistics data published on Thursday show that experts have revised up previous estimates.
In May, it said net migration – the difference between the number of people coming to live in the UK and those leaving – for 2022 had been 606,000, 139,000 lower than the true figure.
No 10 said migration was “far too high” but it was taking action.

7 Harlows in one year, and you wonder why we can't get doctors appointments, can't get housesing, absolute disgrace
A points system is long overdue. You must have a well paid guaranteed job secured, funding for your own private housing and healthcare and be able to support your family if you bring family with you. No access to benefits or free healthcare until you've contributed to the system for at least 5 years, consistently. Makes my blood boil people are flooding to this country for a better life and the quality of life fit everyone has sunk into a pit. Other countries are now raising a red flag on movement of people. It's inexcusable.
We actually have a points system. They just set the bar very low.
That's why I added what entry requirements should be. It's utterly unsustainable and it seems no one really wants to do anything about it. I fear it's too late, there's no will to change it and there's the fear of the race card. I'm old and I'm shocked at how quickly and how dramatically this has changed the face of local towns and cities, for the worse. Meanwhile services are left to crumble, this country is in a mess and is it recoversble? I don't know. I never thought I'd be grateful for old age, but I don't know what the future is going to look like for the younger generations
Yet time and again the Tories spin the lie about controlling immigration, it's clear they are incapable of keeping any promises, problem is Labour would be the same or worse, we need a strong viable alternative to the same old 2 party system, Can REFORM step up and end that monopoly on power
This is unsustainable we don't have the housing, health care or schools to go on like this. Also with the regular protesters Baying for blood this Country has changed for the worst.
And there are still people who can’t see it! Open your eyes! Go up the town , loads of blokes just loitering about around the water gardens with nothing to do because they can’t work because they don’t speak English and they have no background checks. They could have previous convictions and they walk amongst us and we’ve just got to accept it. It’s wrong and no other country would put up with this. England is a joke and the government have let it get out of hand. Maybe the government should focus on all these people here who shouldn’t be - they come just for our benefit system and we let it happen the government need to get them out , opposed to attacking disabled people . If this is about tax payers money (which by the way you pay to keep the government in power - and by the way, why would an already billionaire want that wage when they are already rich ? He could feed the whole country anyway with their Worth). Don’t get me wrong, I like Rishi Sunak as a person, it’s just why would he want that job when he’s rich already? Just something I ponder a lot. My friend used to do charity events in Harlow alot to give back. Her last charity event was last year for Harlow foodbank and she was astounded that people wernt giving as much , due to them telling her that they refuse to give , because the money raised was going to immigrants that shouldn’t be here. It’s sad but true.. Harlow simply can not sustain this influx . Something needs to be done. If this whole budget is about money, then the government need to get rid of these people who they pay to come here and put up in hotels and feed, instead of having a go at the disabled who have often worked in their younger days and contributed to the system.
past caring now,the country is a joke, dont think i will bother to vote again, nothing gets done, surely we cant keep letting people in this country at these record numbers
Paul, therein lays the problem, voter apathy as it's perceived nothing changes, maybe if we had more Independent candidates that had no affiliation to the Con/Labs we might actually see people elected who care about their electorate and not towing the party line
You must vote but not the normal liars, Labour will let everyone in tories will let anyone with a few quid, so wake up and vote someone else get rid of the old wood
