TO boost the number of early years practitioners in the county’s pre-schools, nurseries, school run nurseries and childminding settings, Essex County Council has launched a recruitment campaign.
‘Make a change. Build a future.’ Is looking to attract people searching for a rewarding career to consider a role in early years and childcare. The campaign is calling on those who have stepped out of the profession to return to the sector.
It is also encouraging new entrants to join the profession and undertake relevant training or apprenticeships, and aiming to support people who may be looking to set up their own childminding businesses in Essex.
The campaign has gained support from Deb Newman, manager and owner of Kidz OK in Harlow. She’s keen to shine a light on the profession to attract more people into the sector.
Deb used her business background to run Kidz OK pre-school with her mum (who’s now retired) and boost the number of children on their register from just six to 70! Deb loves working in the early years sector because she can spend time with her own family as well as support families in her community. She also loves seeing children progress from when they start at Kidz OK to when they leave, ready for school.
