League Cup: Frontiers Ladies 5 v 0 Beacon Hill

ON Sunday, Frontiers put their league action to one side as they hosted Beacon Hill in the League Cup.

The management had asked the Ladies to start games quick and this week it couldn’t have gotten much quick than going 1-0 up straight from the kick off with the ball being played back to Jackie Day from the kick off whose forward pass found Tayla Handscomb playing the ball forward quickly into the final third splitting the defence finding Ella Fobbester who’s shot across the goal found the back of the net, 1-0.

A minute later, the lead was doubled when Ash Simonelli’s shot was only half saved and Ella Fobbester was on hand to tuck home from 2 yards, 2-0.

After a frantic start the game settled and Frontiers kept the ball really well and were playing some really good football all over the park from front to back with a couple more chances that came and went but on the half hour make Frontiers got their third when Ella Fobbester nodded on a throw in on from Megan Caswell that fell to Tayla Handscomb who’s run saw her bearing down on goal 1 on 1 with the keeper for her to unselfishly square the ball to Ash Simonelli to palace the ball into a empty net, 3-0 was the score at half time.

Much of the same happened in the second half. Frontier’s back line look very confident and cleared up what little threat Beacon Hill threw at them and going forward looked very threatening and looked as though they could have scored with every attack.

The fourth wouldn’t be long in coming as Talya Handscombs pass from midfield found Ella Fobbester who beat the defensive line and rounded the keeper for her hat trick, 4-0.

Ella would bag her 4th goal minutes later when a cross field ball from Lauren Yeats found Tayla who once again become provider for once again with a pass finding Ella in open space and fired the ball past the keeper. 5-0. On the 70th minute Kelly Holsworth picked up the ball in the middle of the park and found Rae Nelson who beat the offside trap and scored her first goal for the club from 5 yards out, 6-0. The 7th and final goal came from another pass from Kelly Holsworth to Rae Nelson out wide on the right who beat the full back and drilled in a low cross in to the six yard box to find Ella Fobbester who’s first time shot sailed passed the keeper giving her 5 for the day and final score Frontiers 7-0 Beacon Hill.

After the game manager Ronnie Yates said: “Watching some of that football played today was so pleasing to see, it shows that everything done in training is being taken on board and showing on the pitch.

“It always takes time for players to gel and make relationships but over the last year having a lot of new players it was always going to take time and you can see that we have definitely moved forward as a group and look to forward to carrying on the form shown so far this season.

“It was great to see Ella being so ruthless getting herself five today but for me it not just the one who scores the goals it who are getting in in the positions in the first place will get as much credit ”.

Next week we go again vs Beacon Hill in the first round of the county trophy
