Santa to lead huge convoy around Harlow for bereaved and poorly children

Daniel Robinson / Fri 8th Dec 2023 at 12:11pm

LOCAL independent family funeral directors, Daniel Robinson & Sons are gearing up to take to the streets of Harlow as a special treat for local children who have all had a tough year due to illness or bereavement.

Using the company’s entire fleet of 15 limousines, and escorted by the local fire brigade, police, and Santa on his sleigh, they will be collecting the children and their families from home, before setting off on a 11-mile convoy around Harlow. The convoy which starts at 1.30pm from Gates of Harlow (Ford Dealers), will be met with much clapping, cheering, and hooting as they make their way to The Playhouse Theatre in Harlow.

Gary Neill. Managing Director said “this will be our 6th convoy, following a few years break during covid. Each year more and more people come out to line the route to cheer and wave to the children as we pass. This in turn makes them feel so special, something that many have not felt for a while”.

The convoy will be met by Robert Halfon MP, and other local dignitaries, before the families go in to watch the pantomime. After they will be collected and returned home in style.

Mr Neill continued “This really is a special event in our calendar and the calendars of many local people in Harlow. It is so humbling to see the families having fun, and the smiles on the children’s faces are priceless. So, this is a call to anyone in the area on the afternoon of Saturday 9th December, (a map of the route is published on the Daniel Robinson & Sons Facebook page), to come out and join us giving the families a day to remember”.

All the limousines are decorated, along with the drivers who will be in pantomime costumes. So, if you are near, give them a cheer, or you see them on route, give them a hoot!!
