PLANNING permission has been granted for a a container to be used as a local shop on Gilden Park in Harlow.
The application for the erection of a temporary pop-up shop for a period of two years was submitted by Barratt North Thames, Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon Homes.
Our film and Harlow Council’s webcast are both below.
Thanks to barratt, persimmon & Taylor wimpey. Incredible generousity to cough up for a shipping container on a mud patch for the lucky folks of Gilden Park to enjoy xxx
Wow hoo
I've been told that the majority of residents who turned up for the meeting opposed the 'container' shop but the committee still granted permission. Rather than a container why don't they build the infrastructure ie shops, school and surgery as the original plan which was why they got permission to build the estate in the first place. Another shameful backdown by the council.
This application had more residents rejecting the idea of a metal box as a shop than supported it. It will become permanent. Council paid off yet again. Promised an actual shop but settled for a container.....
Watch this become permanent in 2 years with the council yet again failing to support their residents. What next new school in a shipping container? community centre made out of cardboard?
Back in the summer the developers advertised for sale a "large plot of land" that already had planning permission for a Hatch including residential and retail units in Gilden Park. As previously reported as below. What I wonder happened to this ?https://www.yourharlow.com/2023/07/04/property-large-plot-of-land-for-sale-on-gilden-park-in-harlow/?_ga=2.3156784.18406127.1702252665-1331613306.1619107199&_gl=1*yfhs1z*_ga*MTMzMTYxMzMwNi4xNjE5MTA3MTk5*_ga_VG46TH43S2*MTcwMjMwNTk5Ny4xNi4xLjE3MDIzMDYyMDMuMC4wLjA.
