Man appears in court on two charges of attempted murder against two police officers in Harlow

Crime / Mon 1st Jan 2024 at 03:53pm

A MAN charged with the attempted murder of two Essex Police officers in Harlow has appeared in court.

Declan Diedrick, 23, of Hull Grove, Harlow, appeared at Chelmsford Magistartes’ Court earlier today, Monday 1 January having been charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a knife.

He spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth and was not asked to enter any pleas.

He was remanded into custody and is next due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on Wednesday 3 January.

We were called to concerns for the welfare of a man in Hull Grove, shortly after 5.45pm on Friday 29 December.

Officers arrived and engaged with a man at the scene who was allegedly making threats whilst armed with a knife.

During that engagement, a female officer sustained a wound to her head.

She was taken to hospital immediately for treatment and was thankfully discharged late on Friday evening.

Support for her is continuing, both from her peers and from senior officers.

The second officer thankfully did not require hospital treatment. She too is continuing to be supported by the force.
