Athletics: Let us hope the future is Rosie at this year’s London Marathon

ANOTHER Harlow resident set to take on the London Marathon in April is Rosie May Lozeau.

We asked Rosie to tell us a little bit more about why she is taking on the challenge of running 26 miles and 385 yards.

Rosie said: “I am running the London Marathon in 2024 because running changed my life in many ways. I started running on and off at the start of 2023 and I started to enjoy how it made me feel physically and mentally.

My Dad has been a member of The Harlow Running Club for 12 years and he took me along for a trial at the club in July 2023 and I’ve never looked back.

My Dad is my role model throughout running. He’s 68 & still running a few times a week, I wish to be as strong as him when I’m his age. I have met the most inspirational & hard working people throughout my time there & I feel so proud to be part of the club.

I’ve suffered with anxiety since I was around 11 years old & over the years I’ve tried a lot of things to help me from day to day but they’ve never worked but I can honestly say since I’ve started running with the club, I feel like a weight has lifted of my shoulder & I feel my true self. The benefits you get from running, from being around people who love running as much as you & from being around strong minded people is amazing.

I’m running the London Marathon for MacMillan in 2024 because I’ve seen how cancer can truly affect people, not only just the person affected by cancer but the people around them such as their families & friends.

“This amazing charity make it that little easier by supporting the people who are suffering along their journey & that in itself is incredible. I want to do what I can do to raise awareness of this charity & raise as much money as I can to support them. The day I found out I got accepted by MacMillan Cancer to be able to run for them at The London Marathon was one of the best days of my life – I feel so so lucky.

How is training going? I’ve been running a few times a week since August 2023 with the running club & I feel like with each run I get stronger. My training programme started on the 2nd of January & I’ll be running four times a week (I am very excited but also nervous)
