SUPER George Watkins won the Essex Schools Cross Country Championships by some distance on Saturday afternoon.

The race in Gloucester Park, Basildon, was in challenging conditions but that mattered not a jot to George who dominated from gun to tape.

George, competing in the Year 8/9 age group, was representing West Essex but attends St Marks West Essex Catholic School. His first claim club is Harlow Athletics Club.

Two weeks ago, he also won Gold at the Essex Clubs Cross Country Champs.

George now goes on to the All-England Champs at Ponterfact, Yorkshire in March.
