Leigh Ramblers 1 v 3 Frontiers Ladies

ON Sunday Frontiers headed to the seaside to face Leigh Ramblers as they looked to carry on their pursuit of keeping on the heels of Chelmsford City.

Frontiers got off to a quick start winning back to back corners and were unlucky to not go 0-1 up as Lauren Yeats got too much on a corner from Tayla Handscomb and after braking through Ella Fobbester was taken out by the keeper but only to get nothing from the challenge.

On the 13th minute Frontiers would take the the lead when Emily Bruton intercepted a forward ball from Ramblers and passed the ball out wide to Ash Simonelli where she beat the right back and passed the ball into the box where Ella Fobbester tuck the ball passed the keeper to make it 0-1.

Wouldn’t take long until Frontiers and Ella doubled the scoring when she ran on to a pass for Katie Williams and passed the keeper to make it 0-2.

Frontiers controlled the rest of the half limiting Leigh Ramblers to long range shots which were comfortably dealt with by stand in keeper Paige Goddard.

Half time 0-2. 

Second half Frontiers started slow and let Leigh into the game but once settle back in Frontiers would control the game with chances from Tayla Handscomb, debutant Grace O’Donoghue and Ash Simonelli and on the 70th minute Ella would get her hat trick when Tayla Handscombs forward pass wasn’t given up on by Lauren Yeats, she would keep the ball in play and fire the ball across the box and Ella would take the ball under control and spin to connect sweetly a  left footed shot into the bottom corner.

Leigh would get a consolation goal with 10 minutes to go when a long range shot was deflected into the net making it 1-3 and that’s how it would finish.

Leigh Ramblers 1-3 Frontiers. 

Manager Ronnie Yates said after the game: “We are still searching for that complete performance but we still are doing enough to get the win making that seven on the bounce now and that’s all we can ask of the Ladies to keep pushing and stay hot on the heels of leaders Chelmsford who are six points in front but we have two games in hand.

“We are in a good head space as a group which is showing on and off the pitch, players stepping up when needed and today it was Ella bagging herself three goals.

“We now have a week off which has come at s good time so players carrying knocks can rest and recover then look to hit the ground running for the run into the end of the season.
