Hundreds of students attend St Mark’s West Essex Catholic School’s first Careers Fair

HUNDREDS of students from St Mark’s West Essex Catholic School attended the first full scale Careers Fair last week (Thursday).

A range of businesses from Harlow College, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Essex Police, GSK, Stansted Airport and many more were on hand to answer a whole raft of questions from the students who ranged in age from Year 8 to Year 13.

Careers pathways are clearly at the forefront of St Mark’s philosophy. There is a week of work experience for Year 10 students, whilst every Wednesday, businesses come to speak to Year 9 students.

Your Harlow had a stall at the Careers Fair. Editor Michael Casey said: “”I was very impressed by the standard of questions.

“One Year 11 student (Megan) has already sent a press release for her band. The sixth formers want to interview the General Election candidates and the Year 10 students (Millie, Ruby and Jasmine) showed excellent networking skills.

YH grabbed five minutes at lunchtime, to speak to the Head of Careers, Mr Osei about the day and what he hopes the students will get out of it.
