Football: Frontiers Ladies 1 v 3 Billericay Development

AFTER a month off on Sunday Frontiers hosted higher opposition in Billericay Development.

Frontiers started very quickly and within seconds of the start should have had a penalty when Ella Fobbester was taken down by the goalkeeper only for the referee to wave it away but 10 minutes later we would be awarded a penalty when from a throw down the right hand side and Ruth Appolos, Bee Taspinar and Ella Fobbester played their way round the Billericay midfield and Ella’s through ball in to the box which Tayla Handscomb run on to was taken out by the keeper.

Tayla picked herself up and calmly slotted the penalty past the keeper. 1-0

Frontiers kept pushing and tried to double the lead and had chances from Ella And Tayla that were either well saved or just went wide.

At the other end of the pitch, Frontiers looked strong and held Billericay to long range effort has the half come to a close the score line wouldn’t change and would be 1-0 at half time. Start of the second half saw Billericay make a couple of changes which saw them press our defence and in the 55th minute when failing to clear the ball, Billericay’s winger crossed the ball only to find her team mate in plenty of space and time who’s shot on target couldn’t be pushed wide by the finger tips of keeper Jill Bartholomew and in to the bottom corner of the net,1-1.

Straight from the kick off, Billericay would double their lead with a similar attack attacking from the right the ball crossed into the box for a header at the far post and with in a couple of minutes we went from leading and now on the back foot and needing to chase the game.

It would be Billericay who would get the their third and seal the victory when a ball was half cleared and from 30 yards a shot sailed into the top right corner giving keeper Jill Bartholomew no chance.

Frontiers pushed to try and get back into the game but only given half chances couldn’t make any count and the game would finish Frontiers 1 – 3 Billericay.

After the game manager Ronnie Yates said: ” First and foremost I was very disappointed with the loss but it was always going to be a challenge after not playing for a month and coming up against a strong Billericay side, the first hour we was the better side and was unlucky not to be further in front but the lack of game time took it toll but the ladies never stopped which will only put us in a good position when we get back into league action next week and will be good to see how they react to todays loss by bouncing back straight away

Todays players of the match were Tayla Handscomb and Bilge Taspinar

Next Sunday we host Corinthians.
