Athletics: Innovation Multisport are first class at Cambridge Half Marathon

IT was a successful Sunday at the Cambridge Half Marathon for 15 members of Innovation Multisport.

They ran through the beautiful grounds of King’s,  Jesus, St Johns and Trinity Colleges then out into the picturesque villages of Grantchester and Trumpington.

Making their debuts for the club Cheryl Ponton and Charlie Jones ran the 13.1miles with determination and gave everything they had. It was Cheryl’s first ever race and afterwards she said she has definitely got the running bug and has ordered more running gear and looking to book more races after finishing in 2:25:53.

Charlie, one of the clubs younger members had run the London Winter 10k the week previous and ran his first half in brilliant time of 2:50:15 and the club were there to cheer him over the finish line.

Personal bests were earned by Head Coach Andrew Kitson, knocking 43seconds off, finishing in 1:23:27. 

Next was Harvey Parkinson, with a time of 1:32:20 , a whole 3 minutes quicker than his previous fastest half. 

Karl Burnett was super happy with 1:46:46 after being 9min3sec quicker than his previous personal best.

Everybody ran really well and all agreed that it was such a well organised event with a great route and will definitely be back next year!
