ON Sunday, Frontiers Ladies looked to bounce back from last week’s cup exit when they hosted Corinthians.

First half, Frontiers struggled to find their feet but never looked under pressure from any Corinthians attacks.

They had a couple of chances cleared off the line before on the 25th minute, with quick thinking from keeper Jill Bartholomew, who would got rid of the ball quickly to find Ash Simonelli on the left wing, where she drove with the ball at her feet into the opposition half and would play a through ball piercing the defence for Ella Fobbester to run onto and flick the ball left footed past the keeper to make it 1-0.

It would stay that way till half time. After a chat to sort some bits out and a swap in personnel and formation, Frontiers would start the second half quickly as they doubled their lead within 90 seconds of the restart when Emily Bruton quickly shut down the left back won the ball and played it to Tayla Handscomb who beat two defenders and rocketed her shot over the keeper, 2-0.

Now in total control of the game, Frontiers started playing some really nice football, moving the ball quickly and the third was another well worked piece of football from back to front with Ash Simonelli’s forward pass into Ella Fobbester who’s first time flick found Tayla Handscomb who took a touch and played a through ball for Lauren Yeats to run onto and from 25 yards wonder strike sailed  over the head of the keeper in to the top left corner giving her no chance, 3-0.

With ten minutes to go, Frontiers kept pushing, making the keeper make some really good saves to keep the score down but the fourth would come from a corner drilled in by Tayla Handscomb which was nodded on at the near post from Bee Taspinar finding Ella Fobbester who volleyed home from 4 yards, 4-0.

Frontiers would finish off the scoring in injury time when a ball down the right side from Megan Caswell to Lottie Evans who held up the ball well she laid the ball back to Lauren Yeats and after taking a touch she chipped the ball over the defensive line for Ruth Appolos to beat them for pace to slide the ball past the keeper to make it 5-0.

Final score Frontier 5 – 0 Corinthians

After the game manager Ronnie Yates said: “It was great to bounce back with a win after last weeks cup defeat and to take some momentum into next weeks top of the table clash vs Chelmsford.

It took us a bit of time to get going today but second half we were ruthless giving our opponents nothing but scraps especially second half so of the build up play for the goals were excellent and the finishing from both inside snd outside the box was top draw.

Now we recover and plan for next week’s game.
