Swiftly followed by our THIS LAND Launch on 1 June at University of Essex (Colchester), which marks the University’s 60th Anniversary and the Festival’s 25th Edition.

Hythe Church onto campus, where it will be met by University Chancellor and Essex Book Festival Patron, Sarah Perry (The Essex Serpent).

Other activities include creating our own 25th Edition Festival Ink out of oak gall gathered from 25 destinations across Essex; the creation of a Festival Peoples’ Charter looking forward to the next 25 years; a wide variety of writer/artist/maker workshops, author events/ exhibitions, all concluding with Sarah Perry talking to festival chair Peter Donaldson about her latest book

Enlightenment in which Essex plays a starring role!
