Football: Frontiers find Toby tricky but carve out draw

ON SUNDAY, Frontiers Ladies travelled to Billericay for their last away game of the season. It would only take 10 seconds for Frontiers to take the lead when straight from kick off a ball from Jackie Day found Tayla Handscomb who then played a through ball which Ella Fobbester run on to and  resulting shot hit the post and into the path of Lauren Yeats who shot left footed into the the empty net.

Toby found themselves on level terms with in a minute when a long ball over the top of a square Frontiers defensive line which a Toby player ran through and rounded keeper Sarah Walker and passed the ball in to a empty need to make it 1-1 within the first minute.

Toby took the game to Frontiers and were awarded a penalty in the 25th minute when the ball was alleged to strike Ann Anstey’s hand in a ‘ unnatural position’.

Toby’s player sent Sarah the wrong way and made it 2-1 and would stay that way till half time.

After a good chat at the interval, Frontiers started the better of the two sides and within 6 minutes of the restart it would be all square again when from our high press Bee Taspinar won the ball out on the right played it into Tayla Handscomb who’s first time shot from 35 yards sailed over the stranded keeper into the back of the net, 2-2. This only lifted Frontiers and looked like if there was going to be a winner it would only come from us but just wasn’t to be and after a couple of half decent chances that would come and go the game would finish 2-2 and the point shared.

After the game manager Ronnie Yates said: “Obviously a little bit disappointed to only come away with a point after a great start.

“We seemed to stop and just couldn’t pick up the pace which cost us conceding twice in the first half but the response second half was excellent we was the only team in it and looked like the only team that wanted the three points as Toby looked happy with the draw. But winning the league is still possible mathematically and why that’s the case we will do all we can to do so”.

Players of the match were Chloe Hudson and Bee Taspinar

Next week we host Stanway in a double header
