ON Sunday, Frontiers Ladies hosted Bowers & Pitsea Reserves knowing a lot of things would have to go their way to win the league but a point would guarantee second place.

Frontiers got off to a slow start going 0-2 down after 15 minutes with a shot from just inside of the box and an own goal by Charley Sheridan.

At this point Frontiers now behind started to put some well worked plays together and started to press and put pressure on the Bowers defence and in the 27th minute Frontiers got a goal back when Tayla Handscomb won the ball in the midfield switched the ball out to the right where Lauren Yeats took a touch and shot from 25 yards which flew over the keeper and into the top left hand corner of the net 1-2.

Now with the bit between their teeth it only took four minutes for the score to be level when the same two players combined when Tayla’s corner saw Lauren on hand to volley past the goalkeeper 2-2, and would stay that way till half time.

Second half was much of the same as the first half ended with Frontiers on the front foot and taking the game to the visitors and would deservedly take the lead 12 minutes into the half when a goal kick from Bowers went through the half way line and Chloe Hudson struck the ball towards goal which caught the keeper of guard and bounced over her and into the goal 3-2.

Now wanting to put the game out of reach for the visitors, Frontiers kept pressing and got a 4th on a counter attack when the ball was cleared from Frontiers defensive 3rd to Ella Fobbester who rounded a defender and drove down the left channel when a bowers defender held Ella up she cut back on to her right foot and saw Tayla Handscomb make a late darting run into the box in between the centre backs and whipped a lethal cross in to the box to find Tayla with a glancing header in to the far corner giving the keeper no chance making it 4-2. Bowers would get a consultation goal in the final couple of minutes but Frontiers managed the remaining time and got all 3 points with a 4-3 win sealing 2nd place.

After the match manger Ronnie Yates said: “It obviously took us a minute to settle into the game and going 2 down but the fight and sprit to fight back and get into the game shows what this great group of players are made of I say it time and time again they never know when there done.

We have scored some banging goals today and it’s great to see the group celebrate them all together. With todays 3 points means we seal 2nd which is a massive achievement and everyone one involved should be proud.

“Now time to rest recover and look forward to going again. Just want to say a quick thank you to all the players for their effort and work through out the season and to our supporters thanks for all your support and I hope we done you all proud.
