Athletics / Thu 6th Jun 2024 at 07:57am

SUNDAY Funday at The Cotswold 113 Middle Distance Triathlon and Aquabike, Zig Zag Circuit du Sore Legs event, and The Three Peaks Challenge.

Andrew Kitson travelled to the picturesque Cotswolds  to take part in the middle distance triathlon which consisted of a 1.2 mile swim in Ashton Keynes water park, transitioning to the bike for a 56 mile cycle through some pretty Cotswold villages on a 2 lap course before heading back into the water park to dismount and run a half marathon along tarmac paths around the lake amd out to the local villages and back to the park over the finish line. Simon Couper and Jon Waight took part in the Aquabike event, which was the swim and cycling. All did incredibly well on a warm day!

Circuit du Sore Legs was more local at Wodson Athletic Track in Ware, Hertfordshire. This was the 4th time that Zig Zag Running have held this event so it’s very popular and runners enjoy running round in circles. Steve, Cat, Dave, Jess, Ron and Dayna ran 25k laps for 10k distance, but Jess decided to carry on and do 53 laps for a half marathon, her first time running that distance! Susan, Louise, Chris and Alan also did the 53 laps!

They all know they can run, the thing they needed to conquer was their mental ability to do it. With the right mindset, anything is possible! Mindset is a superpower! It was a very warm day with no shade over the track and they all did exceptionally well. Innovators also went along to support, cheering them round, and round and round!!!

Meanwhile over the whole weekend Simon Jones was taking on The Three Peaks Challenge in 24hrs. Ben Nevis in Scotland was the first completed in 5hr28, 9.87miles with a total elevation of  4426ft.

Then it was onto Scarfell Pike in the Lake District National Park! Simon climbed to the top in a total of 5hr56, 8.72miles and 3241ft of elevation! The final peak to climb was Snowdon in Wales. Another 5hr17 on his feet covering another 8.64miles. Total elevations of the three Peaks combined was a total of 10328ft! 26hrs to complete! Such an amazing achievement! Simon said he was proud he completed it but said that he would rather run another marathon! Innovation Multisport will hold you to that! Well done Simon!
