General Election 24: St Mark’s sixth form students discuss key issues in run up to election

Education: Secondary / Tue 18th Jun 2024 at 02:28pm

ON Tuesday morning, we went down to St Mark’s West Essex Catholic School to speak to four of their sixth formers about the upcoming General Election.

It was a fascinating hour spent in the company of Luca, Carly, Joshua and Katerina.

We discussed: voting age, health, education, crime, national service amongst many other subjects.

The four Year 12 students were really engaged and clearly had lots to say in a considered and articulate way.

Should they, as seventeen-year-olds be given the vote? Should they do national service? Should there be more money for hospitals and schools in Harlow and beyond?

The future is in great hands.

We would like to thank Miss Webster, Mr Connolly and Mr Taylor for helping arrange the interview.
