Moot House Summer Festival of Choirs delights Harlow residents

MOOT House Chairman, Derek Fenny, and local Musical Director Roisin Quinn, in association with Harlow u3a Choir, organised a ChoirFest at Moot House in The Stow on Saturday 6 July.  Performing to a virtually full-house, (not bad on the afternoon England was playing Switzerland in the Euros!)  six choirs entertained the appreciative audience:  Harlow u3a Choir, Livewire, Electric Voice Theatre, The CM Singers, Voices of Harlow and Fawbert & Barnard Primary School.

The programme encompassed a wide range of music from sea shanties to popular songs, classical arrangements to contemporary music-theatre.  It was marvellous to see so many performers, of all ages, getting such enjoyment from singing, and also to discover that there are so many opportunities for people in Harlow to join a singing group.

It is becoming increasingly well-known that singing has a notable positive impact on well-being and the smiles on the faces of the performers, and audience, certainly reinforced this fact.

The organisers are very grateful to all the participants, their choir directors and accompanists, for helping to make the event so enjoyable.  Such was the success of the afternoon it is hoped the festival will become an annual event for Moot House.
