Essex Police officer banned after relationship with drug dealer

Crime / Tue 16th Jul 2024 at 12:52pm

A FORMER Essex Police officer would have been dismissed had she not already resigned after it was proven that she committed gross misconduct by taking drugs and failing to act on knowledge of her partner’s drug dealing.

An investigation by our Professional Standards Department found that between December 2019 and 2022, whilst still serving, ex-PC Jodie Cleminson was aware of her partner’s drug use, that he supplied drugs to others, and that she failed to act upon this as expected of her as an officer.

In addition, the former officer was found to have used drugs and warned her then partner about police activity when he was dealing.

Her actions breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour of Honesty and Integrity, Duties and Responsibilities and Discreditable Conduct.

An accelerated misconduct hearing, chaired by Chief Constable Ben-Julian Harrington at Essex Police Headquarters on Friday 28 June, found all these matters proven as gross misconduct. She would have been dismissed if she was still serving. She is also barred from joining policing again in any role.

Chief Constable Harrington said: “Former PC Cleminson’s actions fell well below the high standards we demand and expect every day at Essex Police.

“Her actions upset and disgust every member of Essex Police and there is no place for her in policing.

“I want to reassure the public that the overwhelming majority of officers, staff, and volunteers are dedicated to serving our communities professionally and to the highest of standards.”

Former PC Cleminson resigned from Essex Police in August 2022.

Only the public sector could call a 2 year wait between the offences and the hearing as accelerated

Funny how they have not stated the facts, that she was the drug dealing getting the drugs from the police .. the truth will come out..

She was using her position within the police to gain access to drugs that had been confiscated and then selling them. Lets not leave that part out

The police have left out a lot of crucial details. Including the drugs coming from her and she was the one supplying using her connections to obtain the drugs. The fact her line manager was having an affair with her and was also involved in dealing and is still an active police member.

She was the dealer, her partner didn’t handle any contraband at all. Your duty is to rightfully accuse the criminal and prosecute her accordingly. Do your investigation properly instead of just firing her and ignoring the facts to protect the name of the police. Admit that this happened under your nose and do the right thing.

Reading between the lines it would appear that former PC Cleminson was given the easy option of resigning rather than face the consequences of charges being brought against her. It also appears that this is a massive cover up, do your job and charge the people that were really responsible for this scandal.

If she was selling drugs that had been confiscated from dealers she would most certainly had been charged. 100%. Where is the evidence that she has been doing this?

Police turning a blind eye to colleagues' criminal wrongdoing, what a surprise. Cleminson should be facing Crown Court and you, Harrington should resign, you are a disgrace.

This is sickening to read. How dare you try to cover your own backs with a twisted version because you want to protect yourselves in the fact you had a corrupt police officer working with you. The only drug dealer was Jodie herself. This ‘relationship’ she was in.. how come you forgot to mention he left her and moved well away from her because of her narcissistic, threatening, and bent ways, and the fact she was sleeping with her Sargent? And the drugs police confiscated were in flat where she lived? The person you refer to in such an awful manner was a beautiful soul and tried to start a new life, tried to do everything he could to get away from Jodie, but Jodie couldn’t help herself to make his life a misery and said specifically she would ruin it, Essex police had him arrested with no reasoning, took his car off him, seized his bank accounts so he had nothing. I guess the outcome is she got away with murder quite literally as in the end he took his own life

@john, where do your think the evidence is, hidden … or are you also one of them I would ask ? He had moved on and when she found out she set him up ...we have all the evidence which we gave them, but that was covered, why would the police take his phone where he had all the recording of everything and evidence that she was taking drugs from the force sleeping with her offices and threatening if you ever left that they would all put him in jail and he take the fall.... Worry not we have all the proof and you will see the truth will come out soon. Try hey think they have won, but they have not, and since they have chosen to go public they have opened a bigger can of worms... Watch this space...
