Harlow Hospital Radio welcomes its first ever patron

Entertainment / Tue 30th Jul 2024 at 09:11am

Harlow Hospital Radio (HHR) now has its first ever patron. At the charity’s recent Annual General Meeting, the station welcomed former BBC Essex presenter Ray Clark, who gave members and guests a most entertaining talk about his life in radio, encouraging everyone to “Follow your dreams and never take no as an answer.”

Ray Clark, known to many Essex radio listeners as the voice of BBC Essex’s morning and afternoon shows, has had a radio career since the 1960’s, including times with the original pirate radio station Radio Caroline, and even an ongoing radio relationship with KDKA in Pittsburgh USA.

After fifty years broadcasting to patients and staff at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, HHR has now extended its reach, with a web player and online service available through Amazon Alexa units, allowing listeners to hear the station from literally anywhere.

Ray Clark’s huge experience and ability to maintain and develop his audience will be incredibly helpful to HHR’s presenters, all of whom are volunteers.

HHR welcomes new members, whether you want to join our presenters or become part of our back room team. Find out more at
