Fire Service act quickly to tackle large field fire between Newhall and Old Harlow

ESSEX Fire Service acted very quickly to put out a very large field fire between Newhall and Old Harlow this evening.

YH understands the fire took hold at just after 1800 hrs on Saturday evening.

The main area affected was next to the (off) road that connects Churchgate Street with Newhall.

Six fire appliances attended and put the fire out by 1930 hours.

Police attended and marshalled from both sides of the incident.

A spokesperson said: “Firefighters have also extinguished a field fire affecting 20 hectares of corn in Churchgate Street, Harlow this evening.

“We were called at 6.29pm and crews from Wethersfield, Newport, Halstead, Harlow, Leaden Roading and Sawbridgeworth (Hertfordshire) attended.

“They extinguished the fire by 7.53pm”.

Really did you have to evacuate your house? Leave behind valuable items that’s what we are doing in Greece because over here fire destroys houses you’re one was in a field no one got hurt. Nothing was damaged.

Yiannis, if you’re in Greece why you giving your comment on a Harlow paper, whilst no one gets hurt, farm machinery gets damaged which costs thousands. Farmers lose money for the crops. These field fires can spread rapidly so use your brain before you sit making pointless comments
