Letter to Editor: On Church Langley and drugs
Crime / Fri 9th Aug 2024 at 07:03am

Dear Editor,
SADLY, like it or not, most of the drug runners in Church Langley, live in Church Langley. Most of the drug deliveries they make, are to people who live in, Church Langley.
That cheeky weekend toot of coke or destress puff means you are feeding the drug gangs were you live.
Parents, if your kids almost everyday is wearing Black jogging bottoms, a black hoody, black trainers, shoulder wallet bag, whilst telling you that his £3.5K electric bike cost him only a hundred quid, and he always seems to have new things and spare cash whilst you never know how he earn’t it, then he is involved in the sale and distribution of drugs in Church Langley.
As with all drugs, if money is there, so is competition in the form of competing drug gangs and one day, you maybe the parent who gets the knock at the door and a policeman has that horrible look that you never wanted to see.
When it comes to drugs and the gangs in Church Langley, the truth of the matter is that you always know the right thing to do. The hard part is doing it.
Name and address supplied.
Note: This letter is a general comment on a public affair.
Drugs are a stain on our community, violent crime and drug dealing go hand in hand.
Never taken drugs, I think people who do are idiots, but they should be legal and then it removes all of this.
This is an excellent letter that addresses a major problem not just in Harlow, but across the UK and beyond. The drug crimes are both the source and the cause of other crimes, theft, abuse, and such like. And talk about antisocial - take a deep breath outside Harlow station, in the town centre, and in pretty much any neighbourhood - it's not only in Church Langley that you cannot leave your backdoors open without the heady waft of weed pervading your senses! So, what can be done? (1) How about some kind of joint initiative between our new MP, our local Council, our County Council and Essex Police? Sharing resources rather than duplicating effort. (2) We ALL need to call out those blatantly dealing in our neighbourhood. Don't want to get involved? Afraid? I get that but - ever heard of Crimestoppers? crimestoppers-uk.org 0800 555 111. We have seen recently that collective action can be used for good or ill. I honestly believe the only approach to resolving this problem is a collective community approach. It CAN be done.
When I were young I had some friends that took drugs. I did not take drugs. I am now in my early 60’s and nearly all the people I know who took drugs regularly are dead. This is all you need to know.
Cocaine should be illegal. We need it removed from our streets. Go to any pub in Harlow and people are clearly taking it in view of everything. The law needs to change NOW
Ben, cocaine is illegal. It's a class A drug, so if someone is convicted of posession they can receive a prison sentence of up to 7 years, an unlimited fine or both. Anyone convicted of supplying, producing or importing it can receive a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, an unlimited fine or both. (Source: https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/outlines/drug-offences/) Surely the law here is fine, and it's the enforcement of it that isn't working?
Hi nick , thanks for the info but I can’t help but feel this is a homophobic attack on me.
disgusted this is happening on my doorstep, I'll soon put a stop to it
If you know this, why are the police ignoring it, these people you described are all over Harlow and they should be stopped, come on Essex Police
Ring the police and tell them there are some far right thugs dressed in black with hoodies up in Church Langley and they will be there mob handed in seconds.
Ben why are you paranoid about homophobia when Nick was talking about drugs, or do you know each other. Tut tut.
Ben mate I’m struggling to see how what Nick mentioned had anything to do with homophobia at all. He just answered your question lol In response to the original article, maybe if certain drugs were decriminalised and regulated it would take the industry away from the hands of gangs? Human beings are going to choose to take drugs whether they’re illegal or not, that’s just a fact. Whether they have to buy from gangs/dealers or from a trustworthy and regulated legal business seems entirely dependent on the legality of these substances.
Ben, I meant it.
Nick, sorry I over reacted
Ben, all good cheeky
Nick, you fruity?
Tehehe
Live by the sword die by the sword!!
