AFTER three successful years of Livewire workshops, huge performances, music videos and community events funded by The National Lottery Livewire have secured a further five years!

Sue Suleiman, Funding Officer at The National Lottery Community Fund said: ‘ It was a great honour to be invited to The LiveWire Trust project big cheque presentation.  I met some of the beneficiaries who were taking part in the project and spoke with them about what the project meant for them. I am confident that this grant will reach the young people of Harlow and will continue to be great success. Well done to Sam and the team over at The Livewire Trust.

Creative Director Sam Ashford had this to say: “I am truly overwhelmed and humbled to receive this grant on behalf of The Livewire Trust. We are small local charity working with young people in Harlow giving them free drama, music and dance sessions to develop their confidence, give them a sense of community and to develop character and empathy.

A lot of people have worked incredibly hard to secure this funding and I would personally like to thank all of the parents/carers and partners who took the time to complete our evaluation earlier this year. I would also like to thank all of the young people who come to Livewire, without them we wouldn’t be here. They make us what we are and I am so delighted to be able to tell them that it’s not over! We’ve got five more years to be as creative as we can, it’s now time to recruit more young people and bring the next generation through!”

Harlow Playhouse Artistic Director Rory Davies “On behalf of everyone here at Harlow Playhouse I would like to congratulate Sam and the Livewire team for bringing such an important fund into Harlow. This is not any easy task and Sam should be feeling very proud of himself for developing Livewire into what it is today and securing the funding for years to come.

We are proud to have Livewire as a resident company, their work is crucial to young people and families around the town for so many reasons! We believe the arts should be accessible to everyone and through artistic engagement lives can be change and improved. Well done Livewire for continuing to provide this wonderful service to Harlow and being an integral part of our cultural landscape.”
