Petition organised to fight closure of Leventhorpe school swimming pool

ON FRIDAY, we reported on the imminent closure of the swimming pool at Leventhorpe school.

We often take a look at life over the border in Sawbridgeworth.

There a number of Harlow students who attend Leventhorpe school as well as a number of organisations such as Innovation Multisport, a running and triathlon organisation which uses th pool.

A petition has been organised in order to try and fight the closure.

The irony is that we have Sport England, the Herts equivalent of Active Essex desperately spending money looking for ways to get people active (albeit on one off events and short programmes rather than capital projects that'll last for decades) and Wes Streeting trying to get everyone on board with getting people fit and a proactive nhs yet there's two pools closing because the dfe is withdrawing funding, decision made before the election and one that should be reversed. East Herts Council and the local community have been working hard to save the pool but without the funding the schools have no choice but to close and decommion the pools. Some joined up thinking is needed here to save the Leventhorpe and Fanshaw pools.
