Was your appointment cancelled at Princess Alexandra Hospital?

OVER THE next few days, Princess Alexandra Hospital’s new electronic patient record scheme called Alex Health will go live.
They have been putting messages out that this may mean “reduced capacity” at the hospital.
When we ran a story on Thursday regarding the launch, a number of readers have told us that their appointments have been cancelled/re-scheduled etc.
We are submitting Freedom of Information requests in order to try and get an accurate statistic regarding the number of appointments cancelled/re-scheduled.
To be continued.
What state run new technology system ever runs smooth? The fact that Oracle are the company doing the clever bit should have guaranteed success, but so many projects falter because of incomplete or poorly judged Statement of Requirements by the client. Also, it depends on staff training being thorough enough to avoid the project team being inundated with "pressed wrong button" help requests. The latter scenario is more likely to be the case at PAH.
I work in manufacturing making new tech and production lines. Everything is tested and run in parallel with the existing equipment until it can run at speed. Only then is it put in production to replace the existing system as any reduced capacity situations as described by PAH would cause the businesses concerned to fail. Why is it that the public sector just does not really care about the consequences of what they do, or is it that they just attract incompetent managers. The NHS say they pay top dollar for managers to attract the best, so in this instance the management should be dismissed for failing. The private sector does not tolerate this sort of incompetence so neither should the public sector.
The new technology won't help a badly run hospital. Departments not answering phones and mail boxes full ,main switchboard not answering either
My daughters was supposed to have an appointment in August, cancelled and rescheduled to November......guess what cancelled again to April. When she see her consultant in March he wanted to see her 3 months later, not 13 months later. The NHS is an absolute joke. She is also supposed to see him yearly, think she has seen him once since covid.
A very close relative only found out her appt had been cancelled when she attended. Profuse apologies but it's so upsetting. New appt a month ahead.
PAH seem to be priding themselves in saying 84%+ staff FULLY trained on new system however I am worried if that’s their definition of ‘FULLY’ trained…. A couple of few hours sessions covering everything that you don’t actually use to treat and support patients and not actually everything we need to protect our patients with a quality service. It was also ‘great’ having training sessions where few questions could be answered as trainers we had were not from our hospital and knew nothing of our processes and previous systems.
My operation was cancelled last week at PAH. No idea when it will be re-scheduled.
No amount of new systems will cure nhs trained specialists doing 2 days nhs work and 3 days private practice work. Until you make staff trained by the nhs work only for the nhs then wasting your money on new systems is just that, a waste.
My appointment was cancelled for today 6th Nov, but had no notification it had been, so I got to PAH and was told my next appointment is 2nd Dec, still no notification on that either
