Temporary bus station in Harlow Town Centre ready to go
News / Sat 30th Nov 2024 at 11:02am
THIS Sunday (1 December), the temporary bus station which has been prepared over the past few weeks in Post Office Road car park will be open.
This has been set up so that the new sustainable transport interchange and hub, which will replace the existing bus station, can begin construction whilst minimising disruption to bus services.

The temporary arrangement will be in place for 18 months and all existing services will continue to run for the duration of the relocation.
The temporary bus station includes:
In addition, the disabled parking bays are being removed along Post Office Road so that it can be made two-way. This was already planned to happen as part of the sustainable transport corridor works currently taking place.

Judging by the traffic yesterday,Friday, and today, the buses won't move very far because some idiotic moron or morons decided to do numerous roadworks all at the same time to gridlock Harlow. Your thoughts Boy Leader
who's genius idea was it to have the 4, 20 and 21 all going from the same stand when they all arrive and leave at the same time twice an hour? I guess no one thought to check the timetables?
Can’t the council finish one job before they start another. Town walkways being replaced, numerous roadworks with a sea of traffic cones and now the bus station. Do one job well then move onto another and put a stop to all this absolute chaos and disruption.
For the last few days while people start their Xmas shopping the whole town has been gridlocked due to the sustainable transport corridor work being undertaken, which I understand has about 18 months left to run. As the work is to reduce car access to single lane, what we see now is the future for this town.
Completely agree with Tracy Mehmet. I've worked on similar projects including a very similar project in Ipswich. The works should have been phased; the impact to traffic flows should have been modelled and mitigated. The current experience of road users is abysmal. It seems like poor planning, but I do not know the thinking behind it.
why couldn't the council wait to do one thing at a time. I don't even drive and all the various works around the town centre especially are affecting me, it's getting silly. roads are absolutely ridiculous most times of the day due to all of this happening at once. and with more works happening at the same time, it's all going to take longer to finish, as more workers are needed to be spread out, instead of doing one at a time efficiently and all of this could have been finished a lot sooner. absolutely ridiculous decisions being made recently.
F**k the disabled bays, thanks for that Harlow Council! What an absolute joke you’ve become….
Another waste of our council tax money. We’ve got some stupid idiot who decided to do all roadworks at once in the town. Now they make more of a traffic nightmare by closing a perfectly ok bus station. I give up with this council
Absolutely terrible! Now the buses 2 and 3 do not go to Harlow town station in the morning. How the hell are you going to attract people to Harlow when you can't get them to the station so they can go work to London
